Colorado Technical University (CTU) is a private for-profit university located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was established in 1965 as the Colorado Technical College primarily to train former military personnel in technical and vocational subjects. It adapted its present name when it achieved university status in 1995. The school was acquired by the Whitman Education Group, Inc. in 1996 which merged with the Career Education Corporations in 2003.
Aside from its main campus, Colorado Technical University also maintains other campuses in Denver, Pueblo, and Westminster which are all in Colorado, as well as out-of-state campuses in North Kansas City, Missouri and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The university likewise maintains the Colorado Technical University Online. The university is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

CTU offers military students specific advantages when they choose to enroll in its online programs. These advantages include the military tuition rate, waived application fee, Liberty Grant, military-friendly deployment policy, waived cost of books, DANTES affiliation and SOC membership, SOCMAR and SOCCOAST privileges, acceptance of military experience for transfer credit and academic programs that can be finished completely online. Many campuses of CTU are located near military bases thus it is easy to make an on-campus visit when necessary. The CTU Wounded Warrior Scholarship offers financial assistance to recovering service personnel and their spouses. Traditional students can avail of traditional financial aid options including federal grants, loans, work study and scholarships. These options can either be need-based or academic-based.
