Mid-America Christian University (MACU) is a liberal arts college located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was founded in 1953 in Houston, Texas as the South Texas Bible Institute primarily through the efforts of Dr. Max R.
Gaulke with the help of the First Church of God. It changed its name to the Gulf Coast Bible College in 1955 when it expanded its curriculum. The school relocated to Oklahoma in 1985 and again its name to Mid-America Bible College. It adopted its current name in 2003 when it achieved university status.
MACU is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
It is also affiliated with the Oklahoma Independent Colleges and Universities and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The university is accredited to grant associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

MACU also offers accredited degree programs specifically designed for busy adults. These accelerated programs are made available on-campus and online to facilitate the completion of degrees in less than two years. Military students interested in pursuing further education can take one of these programs while availing of military tuition benefits.
Mid-America Christian University is approved to accept Veterans Assistance Benefits and is a member of the SOC Degree Network System.
It likewise accepts College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES, DSST, and military training and experience for possible transfer credits. Military students will find a suitable degree program that fits their military experience.
Estimated annual tuition at Mid-America Christian University is $13,680.00 for a 12 to 15-hour load per semester. Other costs include $1,050.00 for fees, $3,045.00 for room, and $2,940.00 for board. The tuition cost per credit hour is $570.00.
There are several financial aid options available to traditional students including federal grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study.
Military students
Who does not qualify for military assistance can also apply to avail of financial assistance. Students eligible for military assistance include active-duty, reserves on active-duty status, veterans, and current employees of the Department of National Defense.
Mid-America Christian University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Sooner Athletic Conference. Its teams known as the Evangels compete in men’s baseball, basketball, golf, and soccer as well as women’s basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. It has an estimated total student population of 1,450; 60.9% of whom are female and 39.1% are male.
