Northcentral University is a private, For-profit university based in Prescott Valley, Arizona. It was founded in 1996 by Dr. Donald Hecht who had earlier established the Southern California University for Professional Studies (SCUPS). Dr. Hecht was determined to find a “better way’ of education after experiencing first hand the necessity of continued education in getting work promotions, after going through the difficulty of traveling back and forth to the nearest university while still employed. While SCUPS also provided correspondence courses and degree programs for adult students, Northcentral University eventually became the “better way” which offers degree programs online. This separate institution which offered online degree programs is now currently owned by Rockbridge Growth Equity, LLC, and Falcon Investments, LLC.

Its programs are provided by its four (4) schools including the School of Business and Technology Management, School of Education, and School of Psychology and School of Marriage and Family Sciences. There are program-specific additional accreditations such as those provided by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) for its business programs and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) for related certification programs, among others.

Bachelor degree programs are offered in several areas of study including Psychology, Accounting, Applied Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Management, Marketing, Project Management, and Education. Areas of study for master’s programs consist of Psychology in 4 tracks including Gender Diversity Studies, General Psychology, Health Psychology, and Industrial Organizational Psychology; Marriage and Family Therapy in 2 tracks including California Licensure and General Family Therapy; Applied Computer Science; Computer and Information Security; Criminal Justice; Financial Management; General Business; Healthcare Administration; Homeland Security; Human Resources Management; International Business; Management; Management Information Systems; Management of Engineering and Technology; Marketing; Project Management; Public Administration; Adult Learning and Workforce Education; Athletic Coaching; Curriculum and Teaching; Early Childhood Education; Educational Leadership; E-Learning; English as a Second Language; General Education; Global Training and Development; Instructional Leadership; International Education; Leadership in Higher Education; Organizational Leadership; Special Education; and Sports Management. Northcentral University also offers 70 Doctoral Specializations.

Tuition rates vary. Cost of tuition covers registration, dissertation, technology, online instruction, mentoring and tutoring, online library resources, and graduation fee.

Financial aid at Northcentral University is provided through Financial Assistance, payment plans. Military students can use military Financial Assistance or veterans administration benefit. Northcentral University also offers specialized tuition and fee structure for US military veterans and their spouses. The online degree programs are able to serve the continuing education needs of active duty, national guards, and reserve members of the US Armed Forces.

The university also works with the American Council on Education, the US Department of Defense, and other braches of the military which facilitate translation of military training to academic credit. Members of the US Armed Forces are given special instructions in obtaining military transcripts required for application. There is no application fee.
