Rasmussen College is a private for-profit college that maintains multiple campuses in Minnesota, North Dakota, Florida, Wisconsin, and Illinois. It was founded in 1900 as Rasmussen School of Business by Walter Rasmussen in Saint Paul, Minnesota. When the school was sold to Walter Nemitz in 1945, it went through curriculum changes and updating of school facilities.

It eventually adopted the name Rasmussen College as it acquired other existing schools including the St. Cloud Business College and the Northern Technical School of Business. The shift towards expanding the school through internal means instead of acquiring more schools prevailed after the first campus branch was established.

At present, students can choose to take their degrees online or through the various campuses established throughout the US

These include campuses in Minnesota specifically in Blaine, Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Eagan, Lake Elmo/Woodbury, Mankato, and St. Cloud; Caspar in Illinois particularly in Aurora/Naperville, Mokena/Tinley Park, Rockford, and Romeoville/Joliet. Campuses in Wisconsin are located in Appleton, Green Bay, and Wausau, while North Dakota campuses are located in Bismarck and Fargo. There are five campuses in Florida which are located in Fort Meyers, New Port Richey, Ocala, Land O’Lakes and Tampa/Brandon.
